Essential questions to ask yourself before taking your business to the next level – Video transcript

There comes a point in your business when you reach a certain financial target or income level, when you need to ask yourself: okay, is now a time for growth or is now a time for solidifying the steadiness, the steady income that I’m already getting. And this requires planning.

Of course, when I say “steady”, it doesn’t mean that you aren’t progressing, that you’re not moving forwards. What it means is that you really need to take a look at: is my focus now for intense financial growth or is it more to start consolidating my time, to work fewer hours and to really anchor in the lifestyle piece more?

So you get to a point where you need to reassess where you’re at in your business and where you’re going. And you really need to do this based on what feels good and right for you. Not looking at what everyone else is doing, or what you think you should be doing. I really want you to hear this because this is so important: if you don’t do this, then you’re constantly going to feel in a place of lack, that you need to be pushed more because everyone is talking about doubling their income, earning more, or leveraging their time, and maybe you’re just not ready for that yet or you just don’t want it.

So you really need to stop and assess your business growth and where your business and life is going, because remember, this is the core of a freedom-based lifestyle business: doing things in a way that is bringing you closer to the way that you want to live. It’s not just all about the money and making more money. It’s about your life and how you want to feel in it and experience it.

And if you don’t do this, then it gets really painful being a business owner. So in today’s video, I’ve got a few essential questions for you to ask yourself when you’re thinking about taking your business to the next level, which basically means the next level of expansion. Being a lifestyle business, it means not just your business but also your lifestyle.

Questions to help you decide what needs to be done next in your business

So basically questions to ask yourself at this point are:

  • How can I challenge the status quo in my business?
  • Do I want to offer email support?
  • Do I not want to offer email support?
  • Do I want to continue offering premium, one-on-one coaching or mentoring packages?
  • Or actually do I just want to leverage my time and do group programs because I find I work better in a group?
  • Or is it time to introduce residual or affiliate income into your business?
  • Do I want to introduce a new program and develop a new package or a new product, or do I actually just want to raise my rates and reduce the number of clients I work with, and reduce the amount of time that I work?
  • Do I want to work evenings, do I want to work weekends, do I only want to work 3 days a week or do I want to work every morning 5 days a week or 7 days a week?
  • Is my income actually leading to burnout and stress, or is it really comfortable and what I need to create the lifestyle that I want?
  • And really, is what you want worth the income that you’re starting to get? This is a really important question to ask yourself.

This is really the basis of how I run my business and how I’ve always run my business, and really what I encourage my clients to do. It is so easy to really get burnt out and caught in the stress of the growth and everything you think about, everything you do all the time is about money; you’re only reading wealth consciousness books and you’re only focusing on the next business idea, you’re only on social media to connect with people from a business point of view. You can loose sight of reading a book just for pleasure, a pleasure book that’s got nothing to do with business, or just connecting with friends on a really real level on Facebook.

Because building your own business as a coach, consultant, or an expert offering done-for-you services, that kind of thing, it can be really easy to loose sight of the lifestyle goal and to really get caught up in burn out and working late nights, and not having the time for yourself and for your family.
