About 3.5 months ago I decided to try an alternative to commercial shampoo, all in the name of green living. Making homemade gifts helps you to ‘use, re-use, recycle’ by offering lovingly made, earth friendly gifts. This is also a great activity if you have children not only because it’s great fun, but also because it serves as an example that you can create special gifts which support sustainability through recycling, the environment by reducing the use of plastic and shipping and that the intention and motivation behind a gift are of greater value than actual monetary value.

I haven’t washed my hair in over 6 weeks now and it doesn’t look as though I’m going to either. If you didn’t read my last post about ditching shampoo for a natural alternative, read all about it here. However, in short, I’m now using a mix of baking soda and water to wash my hair and vinegar to condition.

hair health: shampoo IS a sham. They claim to add moisture to your hair and reduce greasy roots whereas they are actually stripping your hair of necessary oils. This makes your oil glands panic and produce even more oil. You can see the problem here, right? And why you end up buying one product after another in the quest for beautiful, ‘natural’ looking hair.
