Simplicity Does Not Mean Playing Small In Your Business and Life

balanceHands up if you’ve been raised in a culture where doing, being busy, constantly striving, struggling, over-working is believed to lead the way to success…

I know, I was there too and add to that perfectionism and you’ve got a life-sucking situation going on.

As a woman on a mission to live an extraordinary life doing work that you love, creating a profitable lifestyle business out of it, moving away the overwork and into a place of simplicity is your saving grace. Financially and personally.

There are so many options available today that steering away from the bright shiny object syndrome does take some conscious effort. Accumulating ‘useful’ systems is just a different form of clutter which shows up as you procrastinating, spending time and energy on the background structures as opposed to getting out there working with clients, seeing results and bringing in the money (which you do need if you’re in business…are you running a hobby or a business?).

What we forget is that what works, works.  Getting wrapped  up in the ‘hard work’ ethic leads to creating unnecessary tasks for yourself, wasting hours at your desk often without seeing the results you desire and sapping away your joy. When you have simple systems and strategies in place that work for you, you have time to be visible, to get out there and work with clients and do what you’re here to do in a way that makes sense because it fill you up and allows you time for life.

How to make simple work for you in your business:

  1. Watch your language. What is your attitude towards your life and business? Do you say you’re ‘only’ a small business owner? That you have ‘really basic’ (with a negative tone) systems in place? Do the words you use come from a lack mentality or a place of conscious decision – ‘I have a successful business’, ‘I have super efficient yet simple systems in place that save me time’
  2. Ask yourself this ONE question each and every time you want to create a new system or process in your business to ensure you keep things simple: Will this bring in more money or is it just nice to have? aka ‘do I really need this’? The fewer steps, systems, processes you can have in your business – and life – the better. This also makes it way easier when it comes to outsourcing.

Simplicity in life is one of the cornerstones of me living a life of greater ease, flow and joy. In my personal life, our parenting, and my business. It’s what I base my ‘success’ in life on.
