				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>When I work with my clients on upgrading the foods they eat to make sure that they are nourishing their highest <em>physiological</em> potential so that they can reach their <em></em>highest <em>personal</em> potential, one of the main foods to cause a commotion is dairy.</p>
<p>The truth is, that dairy is addictive, literally, it gives us that same doped, sleepy feeling that it gives baby cows (just as human babies often fall asleep after they&#8217;ve nursed, or at least you see that look of satisfaction in their eyes). And in our modern world where one of our greatest challenges is to slow down and really be present in our lives, reaching for food is the quickest, easiest thing we resort to to feel nurtured and safe. This is a whole topic in itself but you can see why this isn&#8217;t healthy for us.</p>
<p>In <a title="The Controversial Dairy Deal" href=" http://www.carolinecain.com/controversial-dairy-deal/">this post</a> you can read more about why dairy is so controversial.</p>
<p>But what if I were to tell you that it&#8217;s not all or nothing? That unless there is a medical reason why you can&#8217;t eat dairy, that perhaps there is a healthy way for you to enjoy it?</p>

</b><img class="size-full wp-image-7786 alignright" alt="juggling life" src="http://www.carolinecain.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/superwoman-300x269.jpg" width="300" height="269" />The term <em>balance</em> can really sound like living a harmonious life is about tightrope walking and uncomfortable juggling, of being in a permanent state of dropping this, that or the other and falling flat on your face. That sounds like a lot of stress and pressure.</p>
<p>That&#8217;s why I prefer to use the word <em>harmony.</em> I know, we mean the same thing, right, so what&#8217;s really in a word?</p>
<p>Well, a lot, because words are powerful, we hear them and this in turn brings about an actual physical reaction in our body which then contributes to the view, and even the <em>truth </em>of what we think about ourselves, who we are, what we are capable of, the kind of world we live in and so forth.</p>
<p>We have so many demands on our time and energy. We want it all and yet at the same time we really do want to prioritise our self-care because we know that this is where we step out as our best self and are able to fulfill our highest potential in this life.</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><img class="alignleft  wp-image-7732" alt="Farm eggs" src="http://www.carolinecain.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/IMG_37861-443x550.jpg" width="266" height="330" />Have you ever noticed that egg yolks from farm eggs have a far stronger golden yellow colour than eggs you buy at the supermarket?  This is because of the carotenoids in pasture fed hens, from the grass and other wild vegetation they peck on throughout the day.  The strong colour can border on orange at times but this does not mean that the eggs are bad, as one city dwelling visitor at my aunt&#8217;s house once thought and promptly threw away a dozen highly nutritious fresh farm eggs, probably the healthiest eggs she would ever have eaten.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Eggs have received a bad reputation over the years in the name of cholesterol, but the dietary cholesterol in egg yolk is actually the healthy kind, the kind that protects your heart, the kind that raises the HDL &#8216;good&#8217; cholesterol in your body.</p>
<p>But, to get to the point of this blog post, it&#8217;s to say that eating egg yolks actually increases your happiness. This is because cholesterol, omega 3 fats and the choline in yolk are beneficial for your neurological function. In plain English this means that they are good for your brain development.  Choline helps your body to produce the various happy hormones making foods high in choline, such as the humble and now no-longer-shamed egg yolk, a nutrient dense food to enjoy.</p>

<p><strong>I&#8217;m on a mission</strong> <strong>to make health eating and living a reality for you</strong>. Following my teleseminar which I held last week,<em> The Magic of Radiant Health</em> I received quite a few comments from women entrepreneurs who said that they really get it when I talk about the <strong>importance of mindful eating</strong>. Not just on our psyche but also because it affects our metabolism, our digestion, how we feel in our body and our clarity of mind. But they don&#8217;t know how to actually make this a reality when life is going on and you&#8217;ve got people around you, there are things to do etc.</p>
<p><strong>Of course when you&#8217;re on a roll to increase positivity in your life you want others to join you.</strong> But the point that I always bring it back to, is, in the words of the great Gandhi &#8216;<em>Be the change you want to see in the world</em>&#8216;. It&#8217;s important to take a step back and put yourself first to make it second nature in your own life. Not only will your positive changes naturally rub off on those around you, but it&#8217;ll be easier to encourage those around you to adopt some of these healthy habits without it feeling like it&#8217;s a struggle or you have to justify why you&#8217;re doing it.</p>

<p>To make natural, healthy living and eating a reality for us it needs to fit into our modern ways of being in one way or another.</p>
<p>In this video I share how to create a both/and approach rather than either/or which blocks us in making choices that bring us closer to our health and the natural world around us.</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-7527" alt="carry on" src="http://www.carolinecain.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/carry-on.jpg" width="106" height="150" />Have you ever started a new healthy eating or healthy living habit only to give it up because it&#8217;s just too difficult to sustain in &#8216;real&#8217; life with friends and family?</p>
<p>If so, you&#8217;re definitely not alone on that one.</p>
<p>A client of mind brought this up a few weeks ago which inspired me to write this post. She said that she didn&#8217;t feel normal with her new food and lifestyle choices.</p>
<p>When others around you are doing and eating &#8216;normal&#8217; things &#8211; big nights out, coffee the next day to stay awake, eating take-away pizza, big bowls of paste, refined sugar cereals for breakfast, brown bread sandwiches on the go, eating packaged foods, even packaged &#8216;health foods&#8217;, all of which are &#8216;normal&#8217; in our current society, of course it can be really tough to be the one doing something &#8216;extreme&#8217; such as cutting out gluten or dairy.</p>
<p>Even though you&#8217;ve done your research and you know why you are doing what you&#8217;re doing, it takes courage. It takes persistence. It takes a desire to change something. It takes knowing that life is bigger and that you want it all! It&#8217;s about knowing you don&#8217;t have a choice if you fully want to embrace life feeling your absolute best in a body and life you love.</p>
<p>Consider also that we live in a world where serious physical and emotional issues are the norm. Where have these come from (and are they really normal)?</p>
<p>When it comes to being healthy it&#8217;s about much more than the food on your plate. You can eat all the carrots you like but if your whole self is not in alignment with what you are doing, the benefits of the positive change will only be superficial. The more you align with your <em>why </em>the more you will want to make positive change and the easier it will become for you to implement it as part of your everyday life, without having to think about it.</p>
<p>So when you start to feel anti-social or forget the importance of what you are doing, remember your <em>WHY</em>. Why did you start this in the first place? What outcome do you desire? Check in with your heart and with your gut, how do you feel? Do you feel that this is beneficial and positive despite being hard?</p>

Yet still, so much health information can just seem like mumbo jumbo and can get really confusing when food is broken down into its individual nutrient parts &#8211; vitamins, minerals, trace nutrients.</p>
<p>Is this a typical conversation for you:</p>
<p>&#8220;Hm, what d&#8217;you fancy for lunch?&#8221;<br />
&#8220;I was thinking some vitamin B, maybe with some iron and magnesium, a bit of iodine sprinkled on top and then some vitamin C for dessert&#8221;</p>
<p>No, didn&#8217;t think so.<br />
Too much fancy wancy nutritional hyperbol makes it look like we live in a world of parts and we lose focus on just eating real food. Whole food and a variety of it.</p>

* Mmm, berries, full of antioxidants, really healthy for you. Why? Not sure really.</p>
