7 Warning Signs That Your Business Is Suffocating Your Lifestyle

overworkedFreedom. Yes. And lifestyle. Time for yoga. For massages. For ME. And of course to be a loving partner who has time and surplus to prepare delicious meals and plays with her kids a lot because there’s time.

Were those your thoughts when you decided to set up your own business? Yep, they were mine too. They still are but now they’ve become my reality. Somehow the journey there isn’t quite as easy and linear as it seems when you first set out with a dream, a vision and an empty diary ready to book in those appointments.

The first step in getting closer to creating that reality for yourself is in realising and acknowledge that things aren’t quite as you intended for them to be and that life and business are pretty damn hard right now. Being stuck in the heart-centred by-pass ‘I work all these hours because I love what I do, it’s ok for me to sacrifice friends, family, enjoyment for now’ requires a somewhat longer journey.

Have you brought the stress of the 9-5 home into your entrepreneurial quest?

7 warning signs that your business is suffocating your lifestyle:

  1. you get to sleep late and feel drained every morning when you wake up
  2. you don’t have time to prepare healthy meals
  3. your partner complains you’re not spending enough time together and he’s tired of you ‘just quickly checking this one thing’
  4. you’re never without your phone
  5. you have no real boundaries between work time and play time and no weekly time off or holiday booked out in your diary
  6. you’re living in your ‘lollipop head’. You find it nigh on impossible to switch off and don’t take the time to feel what’s going on in your emotional and physical body because you’re so stuck in intellectual mental turmoil
  7. you’re not having fun

What’s the ONE thing you do to get you back on track when you feel you’re spending too much time at your desk?
